Police nab 5 drug suspects after car chase from QC to Manila; P816K shabu seized
Five alleged drug dealers were arrested by police in Manila following a car chase that ensued after a buy-bust operation in Quezon City on Wednesday evening, March 9.
Police Maj. Wennie Ann Cale, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU) officer-in-charge, identified the suspects as Fidel Samson Jr., 58; Kathrine Santos, 34; Victor Ronquillo, 54, all residents of La Loma Quezon City; Ferdinand Parado, 52; and Lisa Cuenco, 57, of White Plains, Quezon City.
The suspects yielded a total of P816,000 worth of alleged shabu.
According to the police report, joint forces of the DDEU and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency - National Capital Region (PDEA-NCR) launched an entrapment against the suspects on Iba Street in Brgy. Salvacion, La Loma at around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
However, the suspects, who were onboard a black car, noticed that they were transacting with police operatives, prompting them to sped away to escape which led to a chase. They also fired guns at the pursuing lawmen.
The suspects were cornered by the police officers after their vehicle collided with another car along Tecson Street in Brgy. 379, Manila.
Parado and Cuenco sustained injuries as a result of the accident. They were rushed to the Chinese General Hospital for medical attention.
During investigation, police learned that Samson Jr. and Santos had been charged for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591 or the “Comprehensive Firearms Ammunition Regulation Act” and RA 9165 or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.”
The operatives recovered from the suspects 120 grams of shabu, a .45-caliber Colt pistol with magazine loaded with a bullet, a 9mm pistol with magazine and seven cartridges, a black Toyota vehicle, and a cellphone.
Samson Jr., Santos, Ronquillo, and Cuenco will be charged for violation of RA 9165, police said.
Cuenco and Parado will also face charges for violation of RA 10591 and the election gun ban.
