Unbeaten Igorot boxer Carl Jammes Martin will not only put his Philippine super bantamweight on the line but will also fight for the vacant regional belt along with Olympian Charly Suarez Saturday, March 12, at the Elorde Sports Complex in Parañaque.

The 22-year-old Martin will be defending his 122-lb belt for the first time since capturing it last December against veteran Ronnie Baldonado of Cotabato.

The Ifugao boxing champion, who weighed in at 121 lbs, and the pride of Cotabato, who tipped the scales at 120.8 lbs, will also dispute the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) Asia super bantamweight belt in a 12-round match.

"My opponent is moving up in weight but it won't make him a huge underdog because admittedly, he's faced boxers who are way talented compared with my past foes," said Martin.

Martin, nicknamed "The Wonder Boy," remained unbeaten in 18 matches on top of 15 knockouts.

Martin, who recently signed with Probellum Promotion, last saw action in December 2021 with a unanimous decision win over compatriot Mark Anthony Geraldo to bag the Philippine super bantamweight strap.

Baldonado, for his part, returns from his two-year hiatus and hopes to bounce back from his loss against Enrique Magsalin last September 2019.

Meanwhile, Suarez, 33, will lock horns with a younger opponent in Tomjune Mangubat in a 12-round bout for the WBA Asia super featherweight title.

Suarez, hailing from Davao del Norte, has yet to be defeated since kicking off his professional career in January 2019.

The 2016 Rio Olympian, weighing 128.6 lbs, boasts a clean 9-0 record with six KOs at hand with the most recent against Delmar Pellio last Dec.

Mangubat of Bukidnon, for his part, last saw action in October 2021 against Allan Villanueva to roll on a four-match win streak since December 2020.

Mangubat, who tipped the scales at 129.6 lbs, improved to a 15-2 record with 12 KOs.

The stacked card, promoted by VSP Promotions and Ultimate Knockout Challenge (UKC) of Cucuy Elorde, will also feature a 12-round Philippine flyweight title bout between reigning champion Bienvenido Ligas and challenger Roland Jay Biendima.
