Greg Slaughter expressed his availability to play for Gilas Pilipinas in upcoming competitions like the Southeast Asian Games.
The NorthPort big man, currently holding out since his contract expired in late-January, took to social media Thursday, March 10 to publicly send feelers about his interest to once again don the Gilas jersey.
His Instagram story showed photos of Slaughter working out with former NBA scout Gary Boyson, the same person who handled the 7-footer’s personal workouts two years ago in Daytona Beach, Florida.
“I am available and been working with 16-year NBA champion scout (Boyson). I would love to be included in the national team pools,” Slaughter said.
Slaughter last played for Gilas in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games when he was part of a star-studded squad that handily took the gold before home fans at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Another stint may help Gilas in terms of having another big man who help the country’s quest for a 14th consecutive gold.
But coach Chot Reyes recently submitted a list of 15 players who he want to include for the SEAG preparations which starts next month.
Names that were his list were not named but majority are PBA cagers.
Slaughter has not played since last December as he and the Batang Pier have yet to reach terms on a new deal.
