Comelec assures oversight of F2 Logistics' duties for May 2022 polls

Commission on Elections (Comelec) spokesman James Jimenez assured on Friday, March 11 that in the execution of its contract, F2 logistics, a firm said to be controlled by Duterte campaign donor and Davao-based businessman Dennis Uy, will not be without oversight.

Jimenez made the statement in a television interview on ANC amid criticisms after a photo of Uy surfaced on social media platform Twitter being together with a presidential candidate.

"Well, here's the thing though. The misgivings about F2 logistics has been in place long before this photo surfaced. In this photo simply giving you life to that round of speculations," he said.

Jimenez said that F2 Logistics will be under the supervision of the Comelec in every step of the way and that they will make sure that their performance of their duties is aboveboard.

"It's also very important to note that the terms of their contract give them very limited responsibilities in this regard, they will simply deliver paraphernalia and reverse logistics, you know, and get it back," he explained.

"They will not be part of the counting process. They will not be part of the process that ends up in election results. So it's very difficult to see how any of that could translate into a negative impact on the elections themselves," he added.

He then mentioned again that it will not be without oversight from the Comelec and that there will be watchers at every step of the way.

He also added that the warehousing isn't a long term warehousing in any case, and it's about transshipment. which is about receiving them at the regional hubs and then moving them on to the final destination.

Comelec and F2 Logistics finalized and signed the contract for the P535,999,998 deal last October 29, 2021.
