Rizal provincial government congratulates former Vice Gov. San Juan Jr. for his appointment as new MMDA general manager

The provincial government of Rizal congratulated former Rizal Vice Governor Frisco “Popoy” San Juan, Jr. for his appointment as the new general manager of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

San Juan replaced lawyer Romando Artes who was installed as the new MMDA chairman.

“Ang Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Rizal sa pamumuno ni Kgg. Gob. Rebecca Ynares ay taos-pusong bumabati at nagpupugay sa ating dating Vice Governor Engr. Frisco San Juan, Jr. sa kanyang pagkakatalaga bilang General Manager ng Metro Manila Development Authority. (The Provincial Government of Rizal, headed by Hon. We are proud of you!,” the local government said in a statement.

San Juan’s appointment was also lauded by hundreds of netizens as shown by the positive comments they shared on the Facebook page of the Rizal Provincial Government.

More than 500 netizens posted their messages of compliments to San Juan on the Lalawigan Ng Rizal (Official) Facebook page as early as Monday, March 7, the day San Juan, Jr., who is a civil engineer, took his oath as the new General Manager of MMDA before Paranaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez, who heads the Metro Manila Council.

San Juan, aside from being the general manager, is concurrently the MMDA’s vice chairman with the title of undersecretary, the position which he has been holding since his appointment in 2016, or a few months after serving his two consecutive terms as vice governor of Rizal Province.

The former vice governor vowed to assist Artes in formulating projects, resolutions and regulations that will benefit Metro Manila and its residents, according to the statement released by the MMDA following the appointment of the two top MMDA officials. (Nel Andrade)
