The low pressure area (LPA) is now outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), but it is still expected to bring isolated rains in the southern section of Palawan. Meanwhile, the shearline or tail-end of frontal system may bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in most parts of Visayas and Mindanao, the State weather bureau said on Thursday, March 10.

“Nasa labas na ng PAR ang LPA na binabantayan natin nitong mga nakaraang araw. Bagamat nasa labas na ito ng PAR ay nagdadala pa rin ito ng pag-ulan lalo na sa timog na bahagi ng Palawan (The LPA that we are monitoring for the past few days has exited PAR. Although it is now outside PAR, it is still expected to bring rains in the southern section of Palawan),” said PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina in a public weather forecast.

The LPA was last spotted 150 kilometers (km) southeast of PAGASA Island, Palawan.

Meanwhile, Badrina added that the shearline continues to affect Visayas, Caraga, northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Bicol region, MIMAROPA, and Quezon.

Residents of the areas affected by the shearline were advised to be prepared against possible flash floods and landslides that the weather system may bring.

The northeast monsoon, locally called “amihan,” also affects the country, PAGASA said.

In the next 24 hours, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains may be experienced in Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Ilocos Region, and Cordillera Administrative Region due to the northeast monsoon.

Furthermore, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers may prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country due to easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
