DOST to showcase various Filipino innovations in a business forum
As part of its goal to boost the country’s businesses in the sector of science and technology (S&T), the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is set to showcase various innovations from Filipino tech start-ups and businesses in a forum with investors from the Middle East.
DOST said that the event will be held on Tuesday, March 15, at 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.

“As the Philippines is brimming with brilliant and talented scientists and researchers, it is just necessary for us to proudly introduce their innovations and link them with international partners,” said DOST Assistant Secretary for International Cooperation Dr. Lea Buendia in a press statement on Thursday, March 10.
Buendia also noted the “great opportunity” of science, technology, and innovation in the Middle East, adding that it will benefit the country to “synergize” with them.
Among the innovations that the DOST will feature were: Cropital, a “scoring model” that will benefit farmers; AI for Water Management, a forecasting model for water supply systems in Metro Manila; Intellex, a “cloud-based” data analytics for electricity cost reduction; CHARM, a fast-charging system for electric tricycles; and Vigormin, a wastewater treatment and odor-reducing formulation made from organic materials.
The innovations also include an advanced pressure management system that optimizes pump operation called RTAP; a knee-replacement system with wide range sizes called Axis Knee System; USHER that will allow building managers to monitor buildings and bridges 24/7; eco-friendly yarns and colorants from plant materials called Yarn and Natural Dye Kits; and lastly, a patented technology for the production of natural textile fiber-blended yarns called Philippine Tropical Fabrics.
All 10 of these innovations, according to DOST, were developed with the financial and technical assistance of DOST’s Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) and Technology Application and Promotion Institute (TAPI).
