Bishop Bacani calls on voters to scrutinize the character of their chosen candidates
As the May 9 national and local election nears, Novaliches Bishop Emeritus Teodoro C. Bacani, Jr. called on the voting public to scrutinize the character of their chosen candidates carefully.

Bishop Bacani warned voters not to be deceived and not to believe what they read online easily. “Some candidates who use guns, goons and gold to win have also resorted to spreading lies and fake news in social media in order to win,” he said over Radio Veritas’ “Simbahan at Halalan” One Godly Vote campaign of the Archdiocese of Manila.
The proliferation of fake news and information, the bishop warned, may create confusion that can adversely affect the outcome of the elections.
“When that happens, that is no longer the will of the people. Let us remember that when the will of the people is not fulfilled, that is no longer the will of God. This will happen when there is deception and too much lies. The candidate who wins this way is not the right leader for the country,” the Church leader said.
Bishop Bacani reminded voters to choose their candidates carefully by scrutinizing their character and background and to pray for God fearing leaders to win in the elections.
