BACOLOD CITY - The United Negros Drivers and Operators Center (Undoc) is planning to hold a five-day transport strike here by the end of March amid the call to suspend the 12-percent value-added tax (VAT) and excise taxes on fuels.

Undoc Secretary General Diego Malacad said they were also calling for a fare hike for public utility vehicles (PUVs) at P5 for national PUVs, and P2.50 for the provincial PUVs.
Some lawmakers are already pushing for the reduction or suspension of excise taxes on oil products amid the Covid-19 pandemic and the crisis between Russia and Ukraine.
However, just this week, an oil price hike was implemented anew, starting at P3.60 per liter for the gasoline, P4.10 for kerosene, and P5.85 for diesel.
Two days later, a rollback was implemented by some gas stations nationwide. But, despite this, another oil price hike is expected in the coming days.
Malacad said they are now communicating with the school, church, and business process outsourcing (BPO) sectors about their planned strike.
