ILIGAN CITY -- Two Dawlah-Islamiyah-Maute Group (DI-MG) terrorist members were killed in a military operation launched by the Joint Task Group Haribon against the DI-MG group in Brgy. Ilalag, Maguing, Lanao del Sur on Tuesday, March 1.

The Army troops encountered some 60 armed DI-MG members at 7:50 a.m. following the airstrike operations conducted at 2 a.m. at the identified lair of the terrorists led by Abu Zacharia and DI-Hassan Group Maguindanao.
The two groups reportedly converged in the area for training and for operations.
The terrorists' high-powered firearms were recovered.
"We assure concerned citizens who were alarmed by the close air support early this morning that the operation is necessary to keep Lanao del Sur and the region safe and free from the threat of terrorism," said 103rd Brigade Commander Brig. Gen. Jose Maria Cuerpo II in a text message.
Clearing and hot pursuit operations are ongoing.
