The digital landscape and pandemic changed the 2022 election season so much that former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, who is running under the ticket of Vice President Leni Robredo, called on the people to fight “digital threats, fake news, and trolls” to change the country for the better.

Trillanes earlier said fighting against disinformation and misinformation will be a part of his agenda should he be reelected to the Senate.
The former Navy officer, who has been subjected to fake news for the past six years, released a 82-second political ad on Tuesday, March 1, to talk about his advocacies in the Senate.
He specifically highlighted the importance of changing the political narrative by coming together to vote against corruption and human rights abuses.
“Magbabago ang lahat ngayong 2022 kung tatalikuran natin ang pulitika ng pagnanakaw sa kaban ng bayan at pagpapapatay ng mga tao. Gaganda ang bukas nating lahat (Everything will change this 2022 if we will turn our backs on the politics that steal from the nation’s coffers and kills people),” Trillanes wrote in the description of the video posted on his Facebook page.
“At ngayong tayo ay nasa social media age, magtulungan tayo labanan ang digital threats gaya ng fake news at trolls (And this time of social media age, let’s help each other to fight digital threats like fake news and trolls),” he added.
He stressed the importance of 2022 because the country is coming not only from a global pandemic, but from a point of divisiveness.
The former senator promised to bring back the “lost opportunities” by fixing the pandemic response and reviving the local economy, particularly the agricultural and tourism sectors.
Part of his program will be for the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to relieve hunger and create more jobs.
“Patuloy pa rin tayo magbabantay laban sa korupsyon...Magbabago ang lahat sa 2022 — kung ikaw, ako, at tayong lahat ay magtutulungan dito. Walang iwanan. Tuloy-tuloy lang ang laban (We are still going to guard against corruption...Everything will change this 2022 — if you, me, and all of us will help each other. No one gets left behind. Let’s continue the fight),” Trillanes said.
