Teaching an option for Duterte after term ends

President Duterte is considering teaching and rearing young minds after his retirement from public service, stressing the need to “tell the younger generation of what is at stake.”

A lawyer, Duterte said he isn’t planning to teach law. Instead, he wants to teach subjects in the AB or Bachelor of Arts programs, as these are broader in scope, as he had learned during his pre-law studies.

“Ako (Me), I will be interested to pass on to the next generation kung ano iyong mabuting nagawa namin para sa Davao, kopyahin na lang (what good we did for—in Davao and have them copy it),” he added during the second part of his pre-recorded public address on Tuesday, March 1.

Duterte initially planned on seeking a Senate seat in May 2022 but he withdrew at the last minute, opting to retire from public life.

“Now, we have a problem. We have to tell the younger generation of what is at stake. Remember, it would also affect them if something goes wrong, something goes crazy,” he said.

“It behooves upon now, us to do everything,” the President added.

Duterte has yet to publicly endorse anyone for president, but many of his Cabinet members and some allies have switched to either Manila Mayor Isko Moreno or former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

The President said he would reveal in the future some issues against the presidential candidates, though he singled out Marcos for being “spoiled” and a “weak leader.”
