Taguig supports NCR's transition to Alert Level 1; active COVID-19 cases at 135

The Taguig City government lauded the decision of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to place the National Capital Region (NCR) under Alert Level 1 from March 1 to 15 from Alert Level 2.

Under Alert Level 1, public transportation will be at 100 percent seating capacity and the wearing of face masks is required “whether outdoors or in indoor private or public establishments, including in public transportation by land, air, or sea” except when eating and drinking, participating in individual and team sports, and practicing outdoor sports and exercise activities.

Mayors under the Metro Manila Council (MMC) had earlier recommended to the IATF to place the NCR under Alert Level 1.

According to the Taguig City government, it “vows that its City Epidemiology Disease Surveillance Unit (CEDSU) will continue its active disease surveillance efforts and ensure COVID-19 patients will receive the necessary care to recover.”

Taguig reported that as of Feb. 27, there are 135 active COVID-19 cases in the city composed of 48 patients admitted in Taguig hospitals and 87 under quarantine.

The city government has stopped uploading daily COVID-19 case updates with full details of active cases by barangay, new cases and recoveries, and instead only posts the number of active cases.

“Taguig City will use its collective experience during the pandemic to further enhance its COVID-19 response. Taguig's effective system has been in place during the first months of the pandemic which included fully equipped quarantine facilities, free testing for all residents, telemedicine in the local hospitals and in all health centers and contact tracing,” the city government said.

It added, “Safety is at the forefront of the City Government of Taguig’s transition and we will continue to ensure its COVID-19 response remains strong and thoroughly implemented along with vaccination efforts for citizens. Taguig City is constantly finding ways to make its services available and accessible especially to those in need.”

The city government asked “business owners and establishments to cooperate and do their part in making the city safe by ensuring enforcement of the minimum public health standards and safety protocols as Taguig continues to march into the new future.”
