Palace: No official document yet on e-sabong licenses suspension

No Senate resolution for the suspension of "e-sabong" permits was sent to Malacañang as of Tuesday, March 1, acting Presidential Spokesperson Karlo Nograles disclosed.

Nograles bared this when he was sought for confirmation if President Duterte agreed to suspend all online cockfighting establishments during a presser Tuesday.

"First of all, procedurally, kailangan po ng (we need a) Senate resolution to be sent to PAGCOR (Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation) then PAGCOR to advise the Office of the President with regard to that," Nograles said.

"So as of the moment, wala pa tayong (we have no) any indication na merong (that there is a) Senate resolution to that effect given to PAGCOR or to the Office of the President," he added.

On Monday, Feb. 28, Senate President Vicente C. Sotto III said that President Duterte agrees with the suspension of e-sabong licenses in light of the disappearance of at least 31 cockfighters (sabungeros).

The Senate resolution was expected to reach Malacañang on Monday but as of Tuesday, Nograles confirmed they have not received the document yet.

"Wala pa po tayong abiso (We are not yet advised), these are all reports that we read in the newspapers, these are reports that we hear but there is no official document that has been transmitted either to the Office of the President or to the PAGCOR," the Cabinet Secretary said.

"There is no papers to show or point to anything. Ganun po ang status ngayon (That's the status for now)," he added.
