Inday Sara says her stand on Russia-Ukraine war 'does not matter'

Aspiring vice president and survey frontrunner Sara Duterte-Carpio said Tuesday, March 1 that her stand on the Russia-Ukraine war "does not really matter" for now.

This, after the Philippines under her father President Duterte's administration voted "yes" to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA)'s resolution condemning the Russian aggression on its neighbor country.

Her pronouncement came after she initially said the government must remain "neutral" on the said conflict and must only take a stand if our "interest is at risk".

"Sa akin naman, as a local chief executive, and as a local government official, we follow kung ano 'yung direction (For me, as a local chief executive, as a local government official, we follow the direction of the national government)," Duterte-Carpio, current Davao City mayor, said in an ambush interview after she served as a guest speaker during the convention of the Vice Mayors' League of the Philippines in Pasay City.

Duterte-Carpio said her stand on the issue does not matter for now because she is neither a president nor a vice president.

"Yung (The question about my stand) yesterday was a hypothetical one, so the answer was a hypothetical answer din (as well)," she added.
