Duterte calls meeting on Ukraine invasion implications; Palace to keep public informed
Malacañang has committed to keep the public posted as it weighs in on airing publicly the "special meeting" President Duterte will hold within the day, March 1, amid the escalating tensions between Ukraine and Russia due to its sensitivity.

Acting Presidential Spokesperson Karlo Nograles said in a press briefing that they will either opt to air parts of the discussions or release a statement after the meeting which is expected to be attended by Cabinet members, military, police, and the private sector.
"Due to the sensitivity of the topic and because of its national security implications as well, we'll have to wait and see kung ano yung magiging (what will be the) dialogue, the discussions in the meeting and we'll have to assess which of those ang ipapalabas pa o isasapubliko ba (will be aired or made public) if ever," Nograles said.
During his taped public address aired Tuesday morning, Duterte disclosed he will call for a special meeting to discuss the "situation in Europe."
Nograles did not divulge further details on the meeting as he said that they are still finalizing the participants for the meeting as of Tuesday noon.
The Cabinet Secretary, however, said that because the goal of the President is to let the public be well-informed about the current invasion of Russia in Ukraine, a post-meeting material--either through snippets or statement-- will be released.
"In any case, ang importante ay pagkatapos ng meeting magkakaroon tayo ng (what's important is we will have a) statement to apprise the public. Dahil sinabi rin po ni Pangulo na importante din po malaman ng publiko ano yung mga magiging implications ng sitwasyon na ito sa ating bansa (Because as what the President said that it is important to let the public know the implications of the situation to our country)," Nograles said.
"Ang importante dito (What's important here) is to make sure that the Filipino people are fully and well aware of the situation, what is going on in Europe, primarily dito sa sitwasyon sa (on the situation in) Ukraine. We have to keep the Filipinos abreast on any and all developments pertaining to the situation in Ukraine and in Europe in general," Nograles added.
Duterte also said that Nograles will be the "sole" spokesperson to share with the public the salient points of the meeting.
The Presidential spokesman also urged the nation to "pray that the world leaders will all find avenues for peace."
