48 nabbed for illegal cockfighting in Laguna

LAGUNA – Authorities arrested 48 individuals for illegal cockfighting or tupada in two separate anti-illegal gambling operations here on Saturday (Feb. 26).

In Bay, Laguna, police nabbed 44 individuals who were caught engaging in an illegal cockfighting in Purok 1, Sitio Kabaritan in Barangay Sto. Domingo.

In Sta. Rosa City, four individuals were arrested while holding a tupada session in a vacant lot in Barangay Tagapo.

The police confiscated four live fighting cocks, eight dead cocks, four cockfighting spurs or tari, and P38,970 worth of cash from the two operations.

The arrested individuals were taken to the police station and will be charged for illegal gambling.
