Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Wednesday, Feb. 9, thanked popular local band Rivermaya for supporting him for the May 2022 elections.

The Magdalo leader, who is gunning for another six-year term in the Senate under Vice President Leni Robredo’s ticket, posted a photo with Rivermaya members—Nathan Hachero Azarcon, Mike Elgar, and Mark Escueta.
“Maraming salamat po, Rivermaya, sa inyong tiwala at suporta (Thank you, Rivermaya, for your trust and support),” he wrote on Facebook.
The photo showed Azarcon and Elgar wearing a shirt with Trillanes’ name and image while Escueta was photographed holding the shirt before him.
Rivermaya performed during the grand rally for the kickoff of the Robredo campaign at the Plaza Quezon in Naga City, Camarines Sur.
The band, who reportedly performed for free to express support for Robredo’s campaign, sang the hit song “Liwanag sa Dilim” as Naga City lights up with a 15-minute fireworks display.
Rivermaya, who rose to popularity in the 1990s with lead singers Rico Blanco and Bamboo, also updated its profile photo on Facebook with a pink background.
Escueta and his wife, 90s star Jolina Magdangal, are vocal supporters of Robredo.
