QC mayor, vice-mayor support Lacson-Sotto tandem in 2022 elections

Quezon City Vice Mayor Gian Sotto on Wednesday, Feb. 9, said that he and Mayor Joy Belmonte support the tandem of presidential aspirant Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson and vice-presidential candidate Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto III.

During the Lacson-Sotto campaign rally held at the Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC) on Wednesday, Vice-Mayor Sotto said that the Philippines needs a leader whose goal is to improve the government, the lives of families, and to fight corruption.

He added that the country should have a public servant who seeks for solutions to help the people and not a traditional politician who only focuses on elections and in promoting his or her own self.

"Hindi tungkol sa atin to, ‘yan ang tunay na diwa ng public service, at ‘yan ang gusto natin ipamulat sa taong bayan. Kaya suporta kami ni Mayor Joy kay Lacson-Sotto tandem for president and vice-president (This is not about us, that's the true spirit of public service, and that's what we want for the people to be aware of. That's why Mayor Joy and I support the Lacson-Sotto tandem for president and vice-president)," he said

"Dahil naniniwala tayo na kailangan para matigil talaga ang kahirapan sa buong Pilipinas, kailangan matigil ang korapsyon (Because we believe that to stop poverty in the Philippines, we need to stop corruption)," he added.

In November 2021, the Serbisyo sa Bayan Party (SBP), led by Mayor Belmonte, had already endorsed Senate President Sotto as their vice-presidential candidate in the 2022 elections.
