PAGASA: Shear line to bring scattered rains over extreme northern Luzon

The shear line or the convergence of warm and cold winds will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the extreme portion of northern Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday, Feb. 9.

Batanes, Cagayan, and Babuyan Islands may experience moderate to at times heavy rains, which may trigger flash floods or landslides in these areas, PAGASA warned.

Meanwhile, the easterlies or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean may bring cloudy skies, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms over Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Leyte, Southern Leyte, and Bohol.

PAGASA also advised those in these areas to stay vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides due to the occurrence of moderate to occasional heavy rains.

Moreover, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Apayao, Abra, and Kalinga may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon, locally called "amihan."

Metro Manila and the rest of the country may have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned that flash floods or landslides may sometimes occur during severe thunderstorms.
