The Marikina City government announced on Wednesday, Feb. 9, that all available slots have been filled in the online registration for the pediatric vaccination of children aged five to 11 years old against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The Marikina City Public Information Office (PIO) said the online registration opened vaccination dates until Sunday, Feb. 27, only due to the limited number of vaccines provided by the Department of Health (DOH).
The local government, however, assured that the online registration will be reopened when the city government replenishes its vaccine supply from the DOH.
The Pfizer vaccine is the sole vaccine that is allowed to be administered to the said age group as it is formulated specifically for them, according to Advisory No. 125 of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC).
Marikina City began its vaccination drive for the age group on Wednesday, Feb. 9, at the Marikina City Sports Center. The city inoculated around 500 children.
Meanwhile, online registrations for vaccination of adults and minors ages 12 to 17 years old remain open. (Khriscielle Yalao)
