Mathematicians, actuaries, and statisticians are the highest-paid occupations in the country, the latest survey by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) revealed.
Based the 2020 Occupational Wages Survey (OWS) released by the PSA on Wednesday, Feb. 9, these three professions in insurance, reinsurance, and pension funding except compulsory social security received an average salary rate of P63,368 per month.
They were followed by computer network professionals in computer programming, consultancy, and related activities; information service activities with an average wage rate of P59,787 per month.
Other highly paid occupations in 2020 were geologists from two different industry groups.
Geologists in architectural and engineering activities and related technical consultancy received monthly average wage rates of P50,449, while those in mining of coal and lignite; extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas; and other mining and quarrying were paid P49,090 a month
Meanwhile, production supervisors and general foremen engaged in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply received an average of P8,502 a month, making them in the top five.
Occupations under Information and Communications Technology (ICT) were also among the highest paying professionals.
Software developers in medical transcription activities were receiving an average salary rate of P48,000, while system analysts were getting P47,337 and electronics engineers were paid P45,331 per month.
The 2020 Occupational Wages Survey is a nationwide survey of establishments which employ 20 or more workers.
