As 'The Apprentice: ONE Champion Edition' streams on Netflix, Eduard Folayang recalls working with Chatri Sityodtong

Many people discovered just how taxing ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong can be when “The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition” became available on Netflix this February.
The lifelong martial-artist-turned-businessman demanded excellence from the 16 global candidates throughout the season, leaving several viewers wondering if that’s how he operates when the cameras are off.
There’s no need for speculation because former ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang attested that he has always been that way, but with good reason.
The Team Lakay legend has worked with Sityodtong since ONE: CHAMPION VS. CHAMPION in 2011. He detailed that Sityodtong is as demanding outside of the show. However, that attitude isn’t necessarily negative because the Filipino MMA legend knows how leaders should operate.
“Outside the show, it’s pretty much the same. Chatri is still relentless and stern, but that’s a good thing because that’s exactly how a leader should act,” Folayang shared.
“One nice thing about him is that he can be demanding, but he knows how to reward people who are truly deserving. And honestly, he’s just a nice person all-in-all.”
While he enjoys watching ONE Championship’s twist on the world-famous reality television program, don’t expect Folayang to join potential future editions of the award-winning show.
“It’s a different competition altogether, and I plan on sticking to my own competition, which is martial arts,” he said.
However, the Filipino warrior is brimming with pride for Lara Alvarez, who’s representing their Igorot ancestry and their fabled gym.
“We’re happy to see someone who trains at the gym representing us (on Netflix). Whatever the result is, I know she took home a lot of lessons that she’ll be applying in real life,” he said.
