While admitting that it’s a daunting task to try and win Blacklist International’s third straight MPL title without its star players in Jonmar “OhmyV33nus” Villaluna and Danerie “Wise” Del Rosario, newly minted assistant coach Aniel “Master the Basics” Jiandani is nonetheless embracing the challenge.

In fact, in one episode of Turning Point, a Youtube series hosted by Tier One Entertainment top executive Tryke Gutierrez, MTB revealed that he, along with head coach Kristoffer “Bon Chan” Ricaplaza and analyst Dexter “Dexstar” Alaba, have been cooking a different flavor of their patented UBE strat for the upcoming season.
“Mas lalo niyong abangan yung Blacklist ngayon, makakakita kayo ng ibang klaseng UBE, bagong UBE,” said Master the Basics in the interview.
MTB also admitted that the void left by the dynamic duo is a huge shoe to fill in but the squad needs to learn to navigate through the upcoming season by working with what’s left in the table.
“Nakakagulat yun na nagchampion kayo back-to-back sa MPL then sa M3, biglang wala kayo ng Season 9, parang paano ito sinong papalit, ‘yun kasi yung una kong naisip, sinong may kayang gumawa ng gingawa ni V33 at ni Wise,” recalled the content creator-turned-coach.
That prompted the Blacklist coaching staff to tweak their gameplay to work on the strengths of its remaining members in the MVP trio of Kiel “Oheb” Soriano, Salic “Hadji” Imam, and Edward “Edward” Dapadap.
Also in the fold is rookie Kent “Kevier” Lopez who is expected to give Blacklist a different dimension in Season 9 with his Assassin picks – something that the squad rarely use in the past two seasons.
“Para itong bagong team, pero nandun pa rin yung tatlong MVP, si Hadji, si Edward and si Oheb. Iniisip ko nun kung anong adjustment ang gagawin ng Blacklist kasi ang play talaga, yung mind in-game is nangagaling kay V33 so paano magiging setup,” MTB explained.
“As a strategist, bilang coach dapat, kung ano yung ibinigay sayong players dun mo iikot yung strategy hindi yung players yung mag aadjust,” he told Tryke who also agreed
