Do not let drug money be used to influence the ongoing campaign and the outcome of the May 2022 elections and the ongoing campaign, President Duterte said.

Duterte briefly mentioned this during his pre-recorded public address aired Tuesday, Feb. 8, claiming that drug money has penetrated local government units, including "every election."
"Now, I say this because in every election, henceforth sa akin pati itong lahat na dumadating (in my time and those in the future), nandiyan kasi yung drug money (is there). And drug money has penetrated local government units," the President said as he claimed that mayors are aware of this.
He made the remark while talking about the possibility of endorsing a presidential candidate if he finds a compelling reason to change his mind and decide to support a candidate but for now he said, he is not supporting anybody.
During a press briefing on Tuesday, acting Presidential Spokesperson and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles reiterated the statement of the President calling for a fair and orderly elections.
Nograles echoed Duterte's remark before the public to keep drug money away from the upcoming national elections.
"Let's keep our elections fair, orderly, peaceful, and safe. Let us follow all the guidelines in terms of minimum public health standards at the guidelines of the Comelec (Commission on Elections), let's follow and obey all the rules, regulations, and laws of the land and ang isa ring warning ni Pangulo (and one of the warning of the President): do not let drug money penetrate this election and this ongoing campaign," Nograles said.
