Of the more than 65 million registered voters in the May 2022 polls, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said 56 percent are aged 41 years old and below.

Data from the Comelec showed those aged 18 to 41 years old totalled to 37,015,901.
"That would account for 56 percent of the voting population," Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said in an online press briefing.
"This is a very interesting development. It's good for the country. I think it is important to note that the youth are the prime movers of this coming elections," he added.
Data provided by Comelec also showed those aged 42 to 57 years old totalled to 16,779,621 while those aged 58 years old and above totalled to 11,925,708.
The Comelec previously said that it expects a high voter turnout in the forthcoming polls despite the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
Jimenez said that the voter turnout during presidential elections is usually higher compared to the midterm polls.
"Normally, the voter turnout during elections is like a wave. It goes up during presidential elections, and goes down during midterm elections. In 2016, we had a voter turnout of 80 percent. In 2019, we had about 76 percent voter turnout," he said.
