The Muntinlupa City government has started vaccinating minors aged five to 11 years old on Feb. 7 at two sites.
The kids, accompanied by their parents, were vaccinated starting at 8 a.m. at the Laguerta Health Center in Barangay Tunasan and Ospital ng Muntinlupa grounds in Barangay Alabang.

The two vaccination sites were decorated with a children’s party theme to make them appealing and relaxing for the kids.
At the Laguerta Health Center, the first three kids to be vaccinated were cousins Blake Roland Navarro, seven years old; Jesiya Navarro; five; and Cookie Navarro, six.
The three and the rest of the kids who got vaccinated were calm and were happy to get loot bags and toys.
Mayor Jaime Fresnedi and Councilor Allan Camilon witnessed the vaccination conducted by Dr. Rochelle Abat and Dr. Carolyn Magalong at Laguerta while Muntinlupa Rep. Ruffy Biazon was at OsMun to observe the vaccination.
According to an announcement by the Muntinlupa City COVID-19 Vaccination Program (MunCoVac), the pediatric vaccination will end at 3 p.m. today.
At the Laguerta Health Center, the schedule of the vaccination of five to 10 years old will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Wednesday and Friday.
At the OsMun grounds, it will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

In Muntinlupa, the city government is targeting to vaccinate a total of 68,000 kids aged five to 11. The Department of Health had earlier announced that each child will be given two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, three weeks apart.
As of Feb. 1, 10,047 kids in the age group have been registered with the Muntinlupa City COVID-19 Vaccination Program.
In a statement last Feb. 4, the Philippine Pediatric Society (PPS) and the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society of the Philippines (PIDSP) said it is “fully supporting the Department of Health (DOH) and National Task Force Against COVID-19 (NTF) program of providing COVID-19 vaccination in children 5 to 11 years old.”
“COVID-19 disease directly affects children and may lead to serious consequences. Children 5 – 11 years of age are at risk of severe illness from COVID-19. Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C) is most frequent among children 5-11 years old,” they said.
“Thus, broad vaccination implementation would reduce the public health burden of COVID-19 in children 5-11 years of age. We therefore reiterate that vaccination is the best way to protect children from COVID-19 and its complications. COVID-19 is now vaccine preventable,” the two organizations said.
