Metro Manila positivity rate falls below 10% for the first time since December -- OCTA

Metro Manila's coronavirus disease (COVID-19) positivity rate, or the number of individuals who yielded positive results from among those who were tested for COVID-19, has decreased to 9.6 percent as of Feb. 6, the OCTA Research Group said on Monday, Feb. 7.

"The last time the NCR had less than 10 percent positivity rate was on December 30, 2021, around the start of the surge," OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David said in an update posted on Twitter.

Moreover, the region's average daily attack rate or incidence rate has also decreased to 8.93 cases per 100,000 population.

The reproduction number or infection rate further dropped from 0.41 to 0.30, while healthcare utilization decreased from 38 percent to 32 percent.

"At this rate of decrease, if the trends continue, the NCR could have less than 200 new cases per day by the end of February," David said.

"In the meantime, the public is advised to continue observing health protocols," he added.
