A total of 206 children five to 11 years old received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine at the start of the vaccination rollout for the age group on Monday, February 7.
The local government opened the Oreta Sports Complex and Robinsons Townmall as vaccination sites for the children.
Mayor Antolin "Lenlen" Oreta III, Councilor Enzo Oreta, and other city officials went to the Oreta Sports Complex to witness the activities.
The mayor thanked all the parents who brought their children to get their first vaccine dose.
"Importante ang bakuna para maligtas tayo sa COVID, at sana maengganyo pa natin ang iba pang mga magulang na dalhin ang mga anak nila para mabakunahan (Vaccination is important for us to survive COVID, and hopefully we can encourage other parents to bring their children for vaccination)," the mayor said.
"Nakita naman natin sa ibang bansa, maraming mga bata, sa murang edad nababakunahan na. Tulong-tulong tayo para maiwasan natin ang COVID at maligtas natin ang ating mga sarili sa COVID (We have seen in other countries that a lot of children get vaccinated at an early age. Let's help each other to avoid COVID and save ourselves from COVID)," he added.
The local government said that parents can check the link http://bit.ly/Malabon5to17Vaccination to register their children for vaccination.
