Isabela City records first Omicron case

Basilan province has registered its first case of the more contagious Omicron variant.

Isabela City Health Officer Dr. Mohrein Ismael identified the afflicted patient as a 57-year-old female resident of Isabela City.

Ismael however said the patient has since recovered.

As of February 6, there are 36 active cases in Isabela City. The city is under Alert Level 3 status.

There have been 1,715 total confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 1,622 recoveries.

There are 58 deaths from the disease.
