Presidential aspirant and Partido Federal ng Pilipinas standard bearer Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. admitted being threatened by disqualification petitions against him, but he believed his defense is stronger than the prosecution.
"Of course. I take everything seriously," Marcos Jr. told broadcaster Korina Sanchez when asked if he is threatened by the disqualification cases in an interview posted Monday on YouTube.
The presidential hopeful said he has his lawyers who are mounting his defense and have informed him that they are in a better position.
"I think they have it well in hand," he said.
"Ang pagkasabi naman sakin ay malakas naman yung kaso namin (I was told that our case is strong), so we will see what happens next dito sa Comelec (Commission on Elections)," he added.
But if ever he gets disqualified once he becomes the president, Marcos Jr. is aware that his partner, Sara Duterte-Carpio, will replace him in the position should she also win.
"That will be the transfer of power, because when the president for whatever reason becomes...cannot continue with their duties, the vice president will take over. So, that’s just our system," he said.
Marcos Jr. also refuted claims that he and Duterte-Carpio have parted ways in terms of campaigning.
He said Duterte-Carpio "was always with" him prior to the current surge of COVID-19 caused by the Omicron variant.
Marcos Jr. also described his partner "as smart as her father," so "it would be a waste talent" if she would not be given a position in the government.
