K-pop group DAY6’s Wonpil, two more members of boy band JUST B, singer Kim Junsu and actress Park So-dam have tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

On the evening of Feb. 7, JYP Entertainment, DAY6’s agency, announced that “We would like to inform you that DAY6 member Wonpil has been diagnosed with COVID-19. Wonpil had completed the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at the end of last year.”

It said on the morning of Feb. 7, when a staff member accompanying Wonpil was confirmed to have COVID-19, he immediately took a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test and he was diagnosed with COVID-19 in late afternoon.

Wonpil does not have special symptoms and is under self-isolation. All his scheduled activities will be canceled and postponed.

Meanwhile, Bluedot Entertainment announced on Feb. 7 that “we regret to inform you that Geonu and Sangwoo of JUST B have also tested positive for COVID-19.

JUST B’s Lim Jimin and JM tested positive for COVID-19 last Feb. 5 and Geonu, Bain, Dy and Sangwoo underwent polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test on Feb. 6 while they were in quarantine.

“On the morning of Monday, February 7th, Geonu and Sangwoo tested positive for the virus. The members who tested negative on the test (Bain and DY) will continue being quarantined and undergo additional tests as per the instructions of the health authorities,” according to the agency.

It said, “With the health and safety of the artists as our top priority, we will do our best for their quick recovery while vigilantly following the guidelines of the health authorities.”

Meanwhile, Kim Junsu was confirmed to have COVID-19 on Feb. 6 after his co-star in the musical “Xcalibur” tested positive.

Actress Park So-dam, who starred in the Academy Awards best picture “Parasite,” was belatedly announced that she contracted COVID-19 and is now cured.

Last December, it was announced that she has papillary thyroid cancer. After her surgery, she has been receiving regular hospital treatment and in a PCR test before the Lunar New Year, she was confirmed to have COVID-19.

More than 60 Korean stars have tested positive for COVID-19 since Jan. 19.

South Korea has been experiencing a daily surge in COVID-19 cases due to the highly contagious Omicron variant.

On Feb. 7, South Korea recorded 35,286 new COVID-19 cases to bring the total confirmed cases to 1,044,943.
