Trough of LPA, 'amihan' to bring rains in various parts of PH

The trough of a low pressure area (LPA) outside the country's area of responsibility, as well as the northeast monsoon, may continue to bring rains over several areas in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Saturday, Feb. 5.
Cloudy skies, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms due to the LPA's trough or extension may affect Visayas, Caraga, Bicol Region, Mimaropa, Quezon province, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.
PAGASA warned against possible flash floods or landslides due to the occurrence of moderate to at times heavy rains in these areas.
The rest of Mindanao may only experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to the trough of the LPA.
Meanwhile, Batanes, Cagayan, and Apayao may have cloudy skies with light rains due to the northeast monsoon, locally called "amihan."
The amihan may also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
Weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin said PAGASA is not expecting any new weather disturbance or LPA that may enter or affect the country in the next few days.
