Presidential aspirant and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said that he would fulfill his 10-point Economic Agenda platform by financing it through effective and transparent governance which he likened to his mayorship in Manila.

“The thing is we must continue to pursue, kailangan nating talaga na hikayatin natin ang ating mga kababayan na patuloy na mangarap at magkaroon ng pag-asa na itong mga pangarap na ito ay mangyayari sa isang mainam, masinop at episyenteng pamamahala, na siya rin namang ginawa natin sa Lungsod ng Maynila (We need to encourage the citizens to remain hopeful that these ambitions can be realized through effective governance much like we did in the City of Manila),” Domagoso said during Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) Presidential Forum on Friday, Feb. 4.

According to Domagoso, Manila had a low city budget when he was elected mayor in 2019, something his mayoral administration was able to reverse.

“Noong pumasok ako sa Maynila, walang kapera-pera, zero literally. Pero through good governance, through effective, efficient governance, nakaahon kami. Tapos may pandemya, lahat ng pinangako namin sa mga taga-Maynila, nangyari. (When I was elected as the mayor of Manila, there was no money, zero literally.But through good governance, we persevered. Then during the pandemic, everything we promised to the residents of Manila was fulfilled),” he said.

Under his administration, Manila saw several infrastructural developments for housing, health, and education including vertical housing projects such as the Tondominium and the Binondominium, the Bagong Ospital ng Maynila in Malate, Manila, and the 10-storey high Ramon Magsaysay High School in Sampaloc, Manila.

Domagoso’s “10-Point Economic Agenda”revolves around replicating his achievements in Manila on a national scale and includes development plans for housing, educations, labor and employment, health, tourism and creatives industry, infrastructure, digital transformation, agriculture, good governance, and smart governance.

Some notable points from the 10-Point Economic Agenda include the construction of 1 million housing units to accommodate 4.5 million Filipinos, increasing the education budget from 3.4 percent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product to 4.3 percent, increasing the loan pool for micro, small, and medium enterprises from P1.5 billion to P30 billion, and to continue the national government’s “Build, Build, Build” initiative.
