Shear line to bring rain showers, thunderstorms in Luzon – PAGASA
The shear line, also called the tail-end of frontal system, is still expected to bring scattered rain showers in the eastern section of Luzon, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday, Feb. 3.

“Dito sa silangan ng Luzon ay epekto pa rin ng shear line. Samantalang sa Mindanao area ang ay ang trough ng low pressure area (LPA) na nasa labas ng Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) (The shear line affects the eastern section of Luzon. Meanwhile, the trough of LPA affects Mindanao),” said PAGASA weather specialist Raymond Ordinario in a public weather forecast.
According to Ordinario, the LPA outside the Philippine boundary is not expected to enter PAR, but in the next 24 hours, it will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Caraga, Davao region, South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos City (SOCCSKSARGEN).
Meanwhile, residents of Bicol Region, CALABARZON, eastern Visayas, Oriental Mindoro, and Marinduque were advised to remain vigilant and were warned against possible flash floods and landslides during moderate to at times heavy rain showers that the shear line may bring.
The State weather bureau likewise said that partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains may be experienced in the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley due to the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan.”
Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
