Olsim pulls out vs Radzuan due to injury

Team Lakay's Jenelyn Olsim opted to pull out of the ONE: Bad Blood card this February 11 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium against Malaysian foe Jihin Radzuan due to an injury she sustained during training.

"I was supposed to battle Jihin on three weeks' notice, but due to a bad accidental injury I had in one of our sparring sessions, our medical doctor diagnosed me unfit to continue the fight and told me that I need to physically recover," said Olsim, who, for the second time, had to wait before facing Radzuan.

The injury location, however, was not disclosed and ONE Championship has yet to decide on a replacement for Olsim.

"I was really looking forward to going back to fighting and I had been preparing really hard for this," added the Team Lakay stalwart, who holds a 5-3 record.

"I was so focused that I really wanted to win, but I won't be able to perform at my best with my current condition. It's upsetting, but it's what needs to be done."

Olsim last saw action in the semifinals of the ONE women's atomweight grand prix as a replacement for then injured Itsuki Hirata against Ritu Phogat.

Phogat defeated Olsim with her wrestling prowess and advanced to the finals only to be submitted by Stamp Fairtex, who became the inaugural ONE women's atomweight grand prix champion.

Prior to the grand prix, the 25-year-old Olsim scored back-to-back wins since her debut in February 2021 against Brazilian Maira Mazar in the strawweight division and Bi Nguyen in the atomweight division.

It would be recalled that Olsim was initially scheduled to face Radzuan in an alternate bout but the change of cards resulted in the Igorot warrior to step up in the main stage.

"I'm one hundred percent hungry to return and I want to win again. I will be back in full swing, so wait for me," said Olsim.
