'MotoTourism' will stimulate PH economy, domestic tourism—JV Ejercito
Senatorial aspirant Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito said he will continue pushing for the promotion of motorcycle tourism to boost the country’s domestic tourism and stimulate the country’s economy heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a motorcycle enthusiast and travel blogger, Ejercito said motorcyclists play an important role in promoting local tourism.
The former senator said it is imperative for the national government to improve the country’s tourism program first while restrictions on the entry of foreign nationals are still in place.
“Because of the pandemic, we are pushing for domestic tourism in the meantime. Because we still have no international tourists yet. Probably, a year or two while there is still a pandemic,” Ejercito said.
“I think , with so many Filipinos, we can survive with domestic tourism,” he added.
Ejercito, who is running for senator under the Nacionalist People’s Coalition (NPC) in the upcoming May 2022 elections, said he believes motorcycle tourism can trigger a multiplier effect that will benefit an array of local businesses and industries.
“The multiplier effect would be big—there are the gas stations, convenience stores, restaurants, hotels, markets—that would benefit from local tourism,” he pointed out.
“Just look at the multiplier effect of tourism. Almost all businesses will move and work,” he further said.
