Commission on Elections (Comelec) Spokesperson James Jimenez on Thursday, Feb. 3, revealed that he will submit his courtesy resignation to their Acting Chairman Socorro Inting.

In a virtual press briefing, he said this is in order to give Inting the opportunity to make the designation herself.
"I am going to submit my courtesy resignation as a designated spokesman to the acting chair to give her the opportunity to make the designation herself," Jimenez said.
"I do it every time there is a change in chairmanship whether it's actual chairmanship or acting chairman, I offer my resignation as spokesperson," he added.
Asked if he'll decline being re-appointed, Jimenez replied:"No, I won’t decline."
"It is a matter of courtesy and it is what I’ve done since 2007, well 2007 was when I was appointed, was when I was designated spokesperson and had several changes in leadership since then and at every point, I’ve always tendered my resignation as spokesperson," he said.
"I guess that’s something that you should do. It has nothing to do with the events here," added Jimenez.
Inting assumed as acting chairman of the poll body Thursday, a day after Chairman Sheriff Abas retired.
