Globe Telecom Inc. continues to accelerate its network builds nationwide, coming up with 195 new cell sites and upgrading 2,800 sites with Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology in 706 towns and cities across 81 provinces before 2021 ended.
The initiative resulted in one million more customers enjoying Globe’s services, the telco reported on Feb. 2, 2022.
Globe subscribers from the expanded and new sites reported improved network experience, the telco stated.
Top areas include Bulacan, Cavite, NCR second district, Cebu, and National Capital Region (NCR) fourth district.
Of these customers, 75 percent are heavy data users who reported a maximum speed increase of at least 50 percent in video streaming, web browsing, and speed test.
Majority of the customers are already using 4G LTE SIMs and devices.
Hence, Globe appealed to customers still using 3G SIMs to upgrade to 5G-ready 4G LTE SIM cards and capable devices to take advantage of what the newer technologies can offer.
"We do not stop on our network build efforts, despite the difficulties of the pandemic," noted Marge Dizon, Globe Vice President for Program Delivery, Network Technical Group.
