Trough of LPA affects Mindanao; shear line to bring rain showers over Visayas – PAGASA
Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers may prevail over the southern section of Mindanao due to the trough of low pressure area (LPA) spotted outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR). Meanwhile, shear line affects Visayas, the State weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday, Feb. 28, said that cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail over most parts of the country due to various weather systems.
“Inaasahan na magiging maulap, kalat-kalat ang pagulan, at pagkulog, at pag kidlat d’yan sa buong Visayas gayundin sa Basilan, Tawi-Tawi, at Sulu. Bunsod ‘yan ng shear line na nakatutok nga sa Visayas area at ‘yung trough naman ng LPA dito sa southern part ng Mindanao (Cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are expected in the Visayas, including Basilan, Tawi-Tawi, and Sulu. This is due to the shear line prevailing over the Visayas area and the trough of LPA affecting the southern part of Mindanao),” said PAGASA senior weather specialist Chris Perez in a public weather forecast.
The State weather bureau warned against possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rain showers that the shear line and trough of LPA may bring.
Meanwhile, according to Perez, Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience a partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
