'Squid Game' wins first award at 28th SAG Awards

Netflix’s global Korean hit series “Squid Game” won at the 28th Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards held on Feb. 27 at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.

SAG Awards announced that “Squid Game” won the Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series, first award handed out at the ceremony.

The winners of the award are “Squid Game” stunt ensemble members Choi Junseok, Choi Kwang-rak, Chung Seong Ho, Gwon Yoojun, Hong Eui-jung, Hong Kwang-seok, Hwang Yu-hyun, Jung Taek-ho, Kim Cha-i, Kim Seung-pil, Kim Won-jin, Lee Dong-min, Lee Gwang-ho, Lee Hak-ryul, Lee Sang-ha, Lim Seung Muk, Lim Tae Hoon, Oh Taeseung, Park Young Sick, Shim Sang-min and Tak Hwan-ui.

“Squid Game” stars Lee Jung-jae, Jung Ho-yeon, Park Hae-soo, Kim Joo-ryoung and Anupam Tripathi flew to the US to attend the ceremony.

“Squid Game,” Netflix’s biggest TV show with 1.65 billion hours viewed in the first 28 days on the platform, is nominated for four awards at the SAG Awards.

Lee Jung-jae is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series. Other nominees in the category are Brian Cox of “Succession,” Billy Crudup of “The Morning Show,” Kieran Culkin of “Succession” and Jeremy Strong of “Succession.”

Jung Ho-yeon is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series against Jennifer Aniston of “The Morning Show,” Elizabeth Moss of “The Handmaid’s Tale,” Sarah Snook of “Succession” and Reese Witherspoon of “The Morning Show.”

“Squid Game” is also nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, competing against “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “The Morning Show,” “Succession” and “Yellowstone.”

The nominees from “Squid Game” for the award are Heo Sung-Tae (Deok-Su), Jun Young-Soo (game operator voice), Jung Ho-Yeon (Kang Sae-Byeok), Kim Joo-Ryoung (Mi-Nyeo), Lee Byung-Hun (front man), Lee Jung-Jae (Seong Gi-Hun), Oh Young-Soo (Oh Il-Nam), Park Hae-Soo (Cho Sang-Woo), Anupam Tripathi (Ali) and Wi Ha-Jun (Hwang Jun-Ho).
