Full vaccination pre-requisites for pre-May 9 election activities explained
Malacañang clarified that the requirement for participants of election-related activities to present proof of complete vaccination only covers events taking place before the elections on May 9, 2022.

Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles made the statement after the government's pandemic task force released a set of updated guidelines for areas under COVID-19 Alert Level 1 on Sunday, ahead of the shift of Metro Manila and 38 other areas to the said risk classification on March 1.
The new guidelines require those 18 years old and up to present proof of full vaccination before they can enter certain establishments and participate and mass gatherings, including election-related activities, in areas under Alert Level 1.
In his press briefing on Monday, February 28, Nograles said that voters need not worry because the recent guidelines approved by the Inter-agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases only cover election-related activities take will take place before Election Day.
"As it stands now, ang pinag-uusapan diyan ngayon (the subject there) are pre-election day election-related activities," he said.
According to Nograles, the IATF is in constant coordination with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to ensure voter safety on May 9.
"We are confident that before election day itself, ay magkakaroon din ng mga karagdagang mga protocols and procedures na ipapalabas ang Comelec to ensure na safe ang election day po natin (the Comelec will release additional protocols and procedures to ensure that the election day is safe)," he said.
"This is also in fulfillment of our respect for Comelec as an independent constitutional body. Nasa kanyang jurisdiction po ang pag-conduct ng elections (The conduct of the elections is within the jurisdiction of the Comelec)," he added.
Earlier, the Palace left it to Comelec to decide on guidelines including sanctions for the conduct of election-related activities amid the pandemic.
Meanwhile, the Comelec has assured the public that every Filipino qualified to vote-- even unvaccinated ones-- will be allowed to vote on Election Day.
