Duterte to decide on NCR, other areas' alert level status on Feb. 28- Año
By Chito Chavez
President Duterte will announce on Monday, Feb. 28, on whether or not the COVID alert in Metro Manila and other areas in the county will be downgraded to level 1 status, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said on Sunday, Feb. 27.
But he hinted that the alert status in Metro Manila and other areas outside the metropolis may lowered on the basis of the metrics released by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID).
“Low to minimal risk classification nya (area), yung kanyang total bed utilization rate dapat ay less than 50 percent ano. Ito yung combination na ito ng lahat ano, lahat ng bed allocated to COVID (coronavirus disease) including ICU (intensive care unit), tapos dapat 70 percent ang fully vaccination ng total population (I will just mention that low to minimal risk classification, the total bed utilization rate is supposed to be less than 50 percent. This is all of the combination, all of the allocated beds for COVID including the ICU and then the fully vaccinated total population should be at 70 percent),’’ Año said.
He noted that the total vaccination population of Metro Manila has exceeded the standard set by the IATF but also explained that 80 percent of the total population of senior citizens must be fully vaccinated in order for an area to be downgraded to Alert Level 1.
“Pasok din naman ang Metro Manila dito lahat ng syudad ng Metro Manila ay pasok dito. So more or less ang pinaguusapan na lang natin dito yung approve na ng pangulo, at yan ay bukas naman magaganap (Metro Manila and all of the localities in Metro Manila met the requirements. So more or less what we are only discussing is the approval of the President and that is tomorrow),’’ he added.
The DILG chief added that there are “draft guidelines’’ under the Alert Level 1 system.
“Makita kasi natin ang, marami tayong kumpletong omnibus guidelines yung Alert (Level) 2 hanggang Alert Level 5 (We can notice that we have numerous complete omnibus guidelines for Alert Level 2 up to Alert Level 5),’’ Año explained.
The IATF has a draft of the Alert Level system guidelines that needs to be enhanced through a resolution that may be done on Feb. 28.
“Ito naman ay guidelines lang para sa mga tinatawag nating mga indoor at outdoor activities din. Importante pa rin dyan yung really fully vaccinated (persons) kaya importante pa rin na ang ating mga kababayan ay tuloy tuloy ang pagbabakuna dahil irerequire pa rin yung mga vaccination cards especially sa mga indoor activities (These guidelines are what we refer for indoor and outdoor activities also. It is still important to be fully vaccinated that is why it is still important for the public to continue their vaccination since vaccination cards are required indoors),’’ the DILG maintained.
