Bishop Ambo echoes Pope Francis' appeal for prayer amid Russian invasion of Ukraine

Echoing the appeal of Pope Francis, Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) president and Caloocan Bishop Pablo Virgilio “Ambo” S. David has called on the public to pray for peace in Europe amid the war in Ukraine due to Russia’s invasion.

“Please, let us pray with Pope Francis, for peace in Europe. Ukraine is now under invasion by Russia,” he posted on Facebook.
David said the public must also pray that such may “not embolden other world powers to do the same and even gang up with one another.”
The CBCP president pointed out that only arms industries are the only ones benefitting from this war between Russia and Ukraine.
“They need wars to sell their weapons to both sides,” David said.
Due to the worsening situation in Ukraine, Pope Francis recently appealed to believers to dedicate themselves intensely to prayer and fasting on Ash Wednesday, March 2, calling it “A Day of Fasting for Peace.”
“Jesus taught us that the diabolical senselessness of violence is answered with God's weapons, with prayer and fasting,” he said.
