Shear line, 'amihan' to bring rain showers over most parts of Luzon – PAGASA

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers may prevail in most parts of Luzon due to the northeast monsoon, locally called “amihan,” and the shear line, also called the tail-end of frontal system, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Friday, Feb. 25.

“Makikita natin dito sa ating satellite imagery ang mga kaulapang nakakaapekto pa rin dito sa hilagang Luzon. Dala pa rin ‘yan ng northeast monsoon at ng shear line na nagdudulot ng maulap na papawirin na may pag-ulan d’yan sa Cagayan Valley at Aurora area (We can see here in our satellite imagery that the northeast monsoon and the shear line continues affect northern Luzon. These weather systems bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers in the Cagayan Valley and Aurora area),” said PAGASA weather specialist Raymond Ordinario in a public weather forecast.

Meanwhile, the trough of the low pressure area (LPA) spotted outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) continues to affect Mindanao.

“Ngayong araw hanggang bukas ay patuloy nating inaasahan ang maulap na panahon sa malaking bahagi ng Mindanao (We may expect cloudy skies in most parts of Mindanao over the next 24 hours due to the LPA),” he added.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, according to Ordinario, may experience a generally fair weather condition with a slight chance of scattered rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
