Aspiring vice president Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio will not join the debate to be hosted by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) next month.
Duterte-Carpio's spokesperson, Liloan, Cebu Mayor Christina Frasco, told reporters the vice presidential aspirant's team has not received any invitation from the poll body regarding the debate slated on March 20 despite
Comelec's public announcement of her confirmation to attend the event.
"Be that as it may, whether or not there is an invitation, Sara Duterte will not be attending the Debate," Frasco added.
Meanwhile, Duterte-Carpio's running mate, presidential candidate Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., has not confirmed yet his participation in the presidential debate on March 19.
Lawyer Vic Rodriguez, Marcos Jr.'s spokesman, said he will only attend "if his hectic campaign schedules permit."
Marcos Jr. and Duterte-Carpio have been the frontrunners in the recent presidential and vice presidential surveys.
