Riot Games to put up PH office, eyes APAC expansion

Riot Games, developer of popular games League of Legends, Wild Rift and Valorant, is set to put up an office in the Philippines and other Southeast Asian countries as it eyes expansion of its publishing business to the Asia-Pacific region.

As the company focuses on the hyper-localization, Riot aims to expand its business to Japan and India, while also strengthening its business in the SEA region with offices in the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand on top of its headquarters in Singapore.

According to the newly appointed Riot Games Managing Director for Asia Pacific Alex Kraynov, the expansion is a natural step in progression for their publishing business in Southeast Asia as Riot recognizes that APAC has the potential to become the biggest region in the world for Riot.

“This region is intricately diverse, with massive gaming communities that have diverse needs and a strong appetite for mobile gaming,” said Kraynov.

“Our offices in Singapore and Japan have worked hard to release several new games and have nurtured new esports leagues to excite and delight players. Working towards more physical presences in our key APAC markets, we’re extremely excited to double down on these efforts to continue striving towards being the most player-focused gaming company in the world,” he added.

The reorganization also allows Riot to strengthen its business outside publishing which include games, entertainment, esports and enterprise.

Recently, Riot collaborated with Filipino urban streetwear brand Team Manila for an exclusive capsule collection to celebrate the launch of Neon, the first Filipino agent in VALORANT

Riot currently have two ongoing leagues in the country in Wild Rift SEA Champions Philippines for Wild Rift and the Valorant Champions Tour Stage 1 Challengers for Valorant. Both tournaments also served as a qualifier to a bigger tournament in the APAC region – the VCT APAC Challenger and the WCS Championship.
