QC gov't to start area-based COVID-19 vaccine rollout to boost vax program

The Quezon City government will start to conduct area-based COVID-19 vaccination to cater to more residents in the city.

According to the city government on Friday, Feb. 25, it will temporarily close down all regular vaccination sites in the city on Feb. 26.

The QC Task Force Vax to Normal will set up at least 100 pop-up vaccination sites in different areas and barangays.

“Our target is to vaccinate 100% of the adult and pediatric population and through this area-based approach, we can provide easy access to vaccination for our citizens in the grassroots,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

Around 130 teams composed of doctors, nurses, allied health workers, barangay workers, and volunteers will go to “purok” to inoculate individuals.

Barangay officials, purok leaders and community organizations will be asked to encourage unvaccinated or semi-vaccinated individuals to get their doses.

Vaccine brands that are less sensitive to temperature such as Sinovac, AstraZeneca, and Janssen will be used.

All children who wish to get jabbed will be scheduled for vaccination in pedia vaccination sites or referred to the city’s 66 health centers that will remain open to accommodate interested residents.
