Partido Reporma presidential bet Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson has urged Filipinos to become local tourists once again, visiting the Philippines’ best spots before choosing to roam abroad now that the threat of COVID-19 has lessened significantly in the country,
With many areas reopening to business and majority of Filipinos already having complete doses of the coronavirus vaccine, Lacson said that it is a good time to patronize our own country’s tourist spots.
Speaking after his recent two-day visit to Baguio City with running mate and Senate President Vicente “Tito” C. Sotto III, the longtime public servant admitted that he himself had not visited some parts of the Philippines and wishes to discover more of the hidden destinations in the country.
“Ako nagpunta ako doon sa Tam-awan, ano, napakagandang village, ‘yung parang mga katutubo natin doon e, at meron silang rituals doon ,” Lacson said.
The three-term senator also proved in Partido Reporma’s recent sorties across the country that despite being 73 years old, Lacson seemed stronger than people younger than him, as proven by his hike with his allies in Tam-Awan.
“Nagulat nga ‘yung mga kasama ko kasi tuloy-tuloy ako hanggang tuktok, at nakita namin maganda ‘yung view deck ,” added the former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief.
Lacson also called on the government to continue protecting and improving the country’s tourism hotspots and prevent overdevelopment from ruining their natural beauty.
The chairman of the Senate National Defense and Security committee noted that he had been to Baguio ever since he was a cadet at the Philippine Military Academy in the 1970s, but saw Tam-Awan for himself only last weekend.
The Partido Reporma chairman and standard-bearer said every Filipino could contribute to strengthening the country’s tourism and economy, especially the youth and millennials that are just forming their so-called “travel goals.”
“I would recommend na pumunta sila. ‘Yon, napakagandang lugar. Noon lang ako nakapunta sa tinagal-tagal ko sa Baguio, e noon lang ako napunta sa lugar na natural, ano, at dapat nga i-develop ‘yon at i-propagate as a tourism hotspot in Baguio ,” Lacson added of his visit to the summer capital of the Philippines.
