First photo of Korean actress Seo Ye-ji for drama 'Eve' released

Korean actress and “It's Okay to Not Be Okay” star Seo Ye-ji will be making her return to TV this year with a new drama.

Korean cable channel tvN announced on Feb. 25 that "The new drama 'Eve' has confirmed the appearances of Seo Ye-ji, Park Byung-eun, Yoo Sun and Lee Sang-yeob.”

Along with the announcement is a photo of the four stars taken during the table read, or script reading. This is the first photo of Seo Ye-ji related to “Eve,” which was previously titled “Eve’s Scandal.”

In “Eve,” which will be produced by Studio Dragon, Seo Yeji will essay the role of Lee Ra-el, a woman who risks her own life to avenge her father’s death. She seduces Kang Yoon-kyum (to be played by Park Byung-eun), the CEO of a top company who has been faithful to his family but falls in love with Lee Ra-el. This causes a 2-trillion won ($1.6 billion) divorce lawsuit that will rock South Korea.

Yoo Sun will play the role of Han So-ra, the wife of Kang Yoon-kyum while Lee Sang-yeob will play the role of Seo Eun-pyeong, the youngest member of the National Assembly, Korea’s legislature.

This will be Seo Ye-ji’s comeback drama since the 2020 drama “It's Okay to Not Be Okay.” Her career came to a halt last year when she was embroiled in a controversy involving her former boyfriend, actor Kim Jung-hyun.

About the reason why Seo Ye-ji was chosen to portray Lee Ra-el, the production team said,

About Seo Ye-ji, who was cast for the role of Lee Ra-el, the production team said, “Seo Ye-ji is an actress with a strong image and energy that can portray Lee Ra-el. She has analyzed the script more thoroughly than anyone else from the first meeting with her. A deep understanding of the character and a special affection for the work are the main reasons for confirming the casting.”

"Eve" will be released this year. Seo Ye-ji was the winner of the Tiktok Popularity Award at the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards but decided not to attend the ceremony held in May last year.
